Yeah - Another Post for this New Year - I'm On A Roll!!

Well the title says it all, I'm on my second blog post for this year. Pretty good, compared to how my past year/s have been and I'm really ready to go forward..

To begin with, I'm back to quilting, hand appliqueing, cross stitching, embroidering and crazy quilting..I feel like a "newbie" once again, but I'm hopeful it's like riding on a bike. I have a list of UFO's that I haven't even been able to look at for such a long time but I must admit, I do feel the excitement of getting back to my passion.

I've also been re-adjusting to a new type of lifestyle. I reuse, redo and recycle almost everything..I've been cooking by scratch and I do mean scratch - loving every bit of it..I'm still exercising about 4 times a week and organizing my home.

My goal and focus is to once again re-connect with friends who share mutual ideas, hobbies and just plain life.

I still read my mysteries and love every one of them, what can I say I'm a "mystery" junkie but I'm also exploring my spiritual side...

Well, guess that's about all I can think of tonight and I will try and post more frequently which will include photos of my projects of all types. I am looking forward to this journey once again and looking forward to reading all your blogs which I find so inspiring.

A Great Man Passes to His New Chapter

It's been way too long since my last post. In this last couple of years life has brought some strong challenges, some I've worked on and hopefully improved while others just getting through with them in hopes of becoming a better and wiser person.

Most recently, a very special man has passed away, a man I have come to not only love but highly respect; my father n law. Robert Lee Lindborg was a creative and brilliant man who cared deeply for his wife and boys. I didn't have honor of knowing him near long enough but enough to know our family and his friends will know the void by his leaving.

I hope tonight the last thing you do is give thanks for all the wonderful people in your life and as you walk into the future you find a way to show all those special and influential people in your life how you feel. All too soon these same loved ones can be gone in a heartbeat and then it will be way to late. I am so grateful to have the I laws I have in my life and I hope they know it.

I am going to try and blog more of my life including my arts and crafts. I plan to communicate more with my family and friends and hope I can convey exactly as I feel. To all that have followed my blog in the past, I would like to apologize for dropping off the face of the earth. I am here and ready to start posting and share a part of my life!!

Day 82 of a "HEALTHIER LIFE"

Sorry, I haven't been posting about my achievements but trust me, trying to get adjusted to exercising, eating healthier and living a cleaner lifestyle has really taken my time away from me. However, I'm pretty happy to say, I'm finally catching up to life and within a week, I should be right on target.

I am doing FANTASTIC on this adventure/journey...I'm learning to keep a journal of my foods, my exercising and my feelings...I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get to the finish line, but I know for a fact now that I am on my way to a better and happier life. Again, I won't be posting how much weight I've lost because whether one has 5 lbs to loose or more, it's still important to get to a healthier life.

Part of my new lifestyle is also living a "greener" cleaner one. I make my own face cleaner and using non-toxic cleaners in my house, mainly making up my own out of vinegar, baking soda and water. In time, there will be more...This summer we are even going to put up a clothes line and for as long as the weather permits, my dryer will sit still...

I'm working on some curtains, my quilt, a cq block (I am so desperately trying to finish), and a beautiful cross stitch angel. I'm preparing to create some art on fabric, knit up some kitchen dish cloths, make a knitted shawl for my Sister in Law for Christmas and getting materials ready to make my paper.

My herb garden is getting cleaned and is much bigger than last year...Yeah!! I am so looking forward to the first signs of greenery...I have been baking bread, making muffins and have plans for some canning this summer..

So now you know what this country bumpkin is doing, let me know how you all are doing...Would love to hear you are working on and what your plans all..

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Hump Day!!

As promised here is my weekly post...I don't still have much to show in the way of art, but soon, I promise...Once again, we did some more additions to our house which included various messes about..This is a great thing I assure you!!

So with the end of January came a new lifestyle change and yes, weight loss. Originally, I was going to post the amount of weight I lost but have decided against it..Why you say? Because my new lifestyle change isn't just about weight, although a good percentage of it. It truly is about living a better, happier and healthier life.

In regards to my weight change (see, I'm going to say "diet" anymore if I can help it). I make better wiser choices..Eating plenty of fruit and vegetables (essential), lean meats, dairy and grains..I am learning to balance these all out so that I am not overeating in any one category. And yes, the weight loss is really working..

My physical activities have improved...I do 30 minutes of Yoga a day..Yoga is a great way to help your body either get to or stay balanced with better posture. I do strength training about 4 days a week to encourage more toned muscle and less fat approximately 20 minutes each session..I also include aerobics and balance exercises to burn calories, increase muscle mass (over fat) and again, working to coordinate my body even better. I work out approximately 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours a day with the exception of Sunday's when I only do about 20 minutes of Yoga.

I'm reading my self-improvement mind books, my mysteries, of course, and doing some writing again.

Included with all of these changes, I'm getting about 7 hours of sleep a night. I've spent years only sleeping anywhere from 2 to 4 hours a night and now I'm having to retrain my body, encouraging sleep. I must admit, I'm quit liking it.

So, as you can tell I'm feeling much better. For those of you are on some type of self improvement journey, just remember, you are not alone. You have friends who care and together we can do this.

January 2010 Is Nearly Over???

It's been nearly a month (4 straight weeks to be exact) since I started my new lifestyle change. I don't want to use the word "diet" as I think it comes with negative connotations attached, but I do admit to needing to loose mega amount of weight.

The new change isn't negative; in fact it's so positive it's off the charts. Each day I jump out of my bed actually looking forward to that one more hour or more workout. It's hard to believe that when I started my journey, I was lucky to do 20 minutes of exercise. Now, I work out for an hour plus an additional time for either walking or jogging.

The food I'm eating isn't diet food either. I try and eat good healthy foods; fruits, plenty of vegetables, proteins, some type of milk product and of course, my eight glasses of water. My diet coke consumption is 1/3rd of what it used to be and I have started drinking hot green tea. Because of my age and worries of whether or not I'm getting the recommended amount of nutrients, I'm also intaking 1 daily vitamin plus additional vitamin C. I'm reading self-improvement books as I know I need to accept a different lifestyle with hoping it will add to my self-esteem and confident issues.

Changes like this require desire, dedication and the realization it is for the best. However, I've also discovered it has altered my time a bit and I need to make some modifications for the things that also important and try to balance all of this out a little better.

If any one is interested in joining me, that would be awesome. My first suggestion; remember to start with baby steps..Every step you take is one step closer to a healthier goal. It takes 3 weeks to break a bad habit but it only takes that same 3 weeks to make good ones as well.

I'll try to post to my blog weekly and update my goals. I'll be honest with my weight reduction, talk about the exercising and how I'm feeling through all of this.

The quilt I'm working on is called "Snowball with Nine Patch"...It's going to be for our bed and I think will be absolutely beautiful. The crazy quilt block is one that should have been finished but will be shortly, thank goodness. I'm cross stitching some hearts to give to my granddaughters for little Valentine Gifts, plus embroidering a pillow case. I'm reading Dr. Wayne Dyer's "Your Sacred Self", Kathy Reichs's "Fatal Voyage" and The Bible.

Christmas in August - Thank you Lyn, Stitchmap and Kerry!!!!

Normally we hear "Christmas in July" but for me, it happened this month - August...In the post office today, I received my "super duper" squishie from Lyn's monthly blog teaser....It's a great contest with unbelievable winnings...Here are 4 pictures just to show you...Thank you Lyn!!

Next, is from a contest we had on the "Stitchmap" yahoo group..It's an awesome group for learning various types of needlework as well as personal assistance...It aides in crazy quilting, cross stitching, tatting, crocheting, knitting, dying, embroidery etc. Almost any kind of needlework you are interested in tackling, someone there is sure to be able to help you.....Anyway, I won a contest on this group and here are my winnings...And if that is not enough for one person to handle on one day, I also received a wonderful Christmas Book from Kerry!!! She did a Christmas in July, and I submitted my name cause anyone who knows me, knows I'm Christmas 365 days a year....And sure enough I ended up with this fantastic Christmas book....

This was an incredible day and one definitely most blessed...I wish to personally thank Lyn from Quilting Lion as well as Lyn, Shari and Moon on Stitchmap for all the stash enhancement...Also, Kerry for the wonderful book displaying assorted Christmas decorating themes...My favorite is the Victorian period and it had some really terrific ideas...

Tuesday Once Again!!

What a summer I've had..It's been one thing after another which started out with needing to go to Spokane to help my daughter and son in law...I was gone 3 weeks and honestly I don't mind..Taking care of my grandchildren and visiting with my terrific children makes it the best...Upon my arrival home, I had a few things needing to get accomplished like move into my own little studio - yeah!! This has been wonderful..Although tiny and still needing tweaking, it's been the best...

Last week my husband was laid off and we are unsure of how long this could be..Can you imagine a construction employee being laid off during one of their best months???..However, not this year, construction has been anything but the best...Oh well, another one of life's challenges..

Next, my husband's uncle past away on Sunday morning..We knew he had been struggling for a while now but has had those up and down days...He went into the hospital on Friday morning and we were told he wouldn't make the weekend..Then on Saturday he started feeling better and responded to his care..However, Saturday late night, he took a turn for the worse and my husband's poor aunt had to make the decision to take him off his machine..His brain was no longer with us..She stayed the night, sleeping a little but after talking to his daughter, it was decided to finally make the decision..I'm sorry he's gone, he was such a nice man but I do think he was really tired...

Early in his life he had polio and managed to beat it..Unfortunately, medicine 80+ years ago is now showing effects of some medical issues...He's been fighting and suffering for so long..The first thing out of his mouth to the doctor's was "no tubes"...We spent the afternoon with Lee's aunt..Took a loaf of bread which she seemed to appreciate, however, I think she was just happier to have us around..We hugged and talked about "Uncle Bob" and anything else that came up...

So, my crazy quilting certainly has taken a back burner to life..I would love to do more and in some ways can't wait until the winter is upon us again, so I have no reason to go outside for harvesting of vegetables or herbs, weeding gardens or anything else...

Whewwwww!!!!...But like everyone else, life brings challenges, adventures and many paths..The idea is to walk them all with head up and knowing the sun will shine tomorrow..Well...guess that is a funny statement when most of this month has been spent under clouds and lots of rain..

Two Blocks To Share

I've been working on two different rr's...One is the Black and White in Crazy Quilt Interenational...It's a terrific rr!! Everyone kind and patient, which is a good thing since it's taken me too long to complete the block for Ann..However, it is done, although I could do much more but don't have the month to work on it as it needs to be sent...My abilities are sure lacking in comparison from what I've seen already so I sincerely appreciate being allowed to participate....

The second is called "Cobalt Blue Study"...I completed doing Dalette's block and have sent it on but here is a picture....It's been an interesting study in trying think outside the box using the same color, in this case, blue.

I have what one could call a very busy Tuesday ahead of me...In my possession I have a total of 5 blocks that need work done to them to complete my part of a couple r/r's...Two Black and Whites (one for July and August), two Blue Block Study (July and August) and a "Honkin" Orange block for a friend who is recovering from surgery..I also want to start my Victorian Christmas stocking and work on a couple of Altoid Tins...It's a beautiful day but one can tell the heat is already on so I'll hide out in my little studio in the nice cool basement and have a grand ole time while others are enduring the heat...

I'm also going to attempt to do some "silkies" today..I have several kind people who have sent me some wonderful "silkies" and I thought I would like to add some to my Christmas Stocking, so I'm going to jump in with both feet today..I have some gorgeous silk that is quite old (about 40 years) that will be perfect..

Also, I discovered I won a "squishie" this week from Lyn...I've been trying to win one of her incredible "squishies" but as a very fortunate and lucky winner I've actually been blessed to win a beautiful CQ pouch and a pin cushion from her, plus a "silkie". This month I did win a "super squishie" from her and so I'm going to bow out from entering any more till the beginning of the year..One can't be greedy and I've been so lucky...Thank you Lyn!!!

Monday Afternoon

I haven't been online much in the last three days, in fact, just about nil..My husband and I are building a house (very slowly) and this weekend, he managed to get me a small studio set up in our "cool" basement..We are still putting sheetrock up but he had managed to finish up most of it including a small room..Ultimately, this room has been established for his music but I think guilt over took as this new home building (piece by piece) is taking so long that he gave me his room until he can actually get me my "perfect" studio..It's not alot of space but it's mine and its heavenly..Up until then, I've been doing it all from the dinning area of our kitchen...Fabric and embellishments tucked in every nook and granny..It's really nice, knowing I don't have to put things away just to eat..Hooray!!

On another blog (Allie's in Stitching) she mentioned a Pesto recipe..As it's harvest time for my Basil, I decided to give it a try it...If anyone has an abundance of "basil" please try this recipe. It is simply delicious..

Ok, so now I'm off to work on some projects...Before I close this little post, I just wanted to wish my grandson a very happy "14th" birthday..He had the nerve to ask me if I felt older..Told him "no" it wasn't me having a birthday as I don't have them any longer Really bummed him out..

CJ - Honkin Orange

Happy Honkin Orange Hump Day!!

I haven't done much in awhile and I realize it was really getting to me...We are working in our basement, trying to get it to a livable condition so I've been unpacking boxes, plus I was waiting to complete some obligations before I started this block, but that hasn't happened as of yet..So, although, this block should have been started 2 months ago (where does the time go), I did it this morning...It's for CJ, also known as Crazy Judith, who has been recuperating from surgery..I've been hesitant as I don't feel real comfortable with my abilities but it's time to try. She adores orange, in fact, the words "honkin orange" come from her...I'm not much of a orange person but if it makes her smile, then it's worth it...It may take me a while and if anyone has suggestions, please feel free to post..Right now all I see is one big sherbet ice cream at me...So, lets begin our journey, day 1 of the "honkin orange sherbet ice cream"...(PS - I am going to add a smudge of purple somewhere on this block )

Good Morning

Its a very nice quiet Sunday morning..Last night, we had a few sprinkles come rolling through making this day a bit cooler - thank goodness. I haven't done much in the way of art recently but today is the day I do some CQing..There has been a few issues which has caused a bit of hindrance but I've decided if I want to do something then just go with the flow....

Lyn, is a creative CQer who is going to have a Santa Christmas Stocking exchange. This will be her first private exchange and several of us have signed up looking forward to it. She also has plans of doing them yearly if this one is a success. If you get a chance check out her blog, she is extremely creative. I know, I've been fortunate to receive a few of her gifts and they are absolutely lovely....

I have another friend Ann, who has helped me tremendously through the CQ world. When I first started a few months ago (Jan 09), she was there to hold my hand, direct me into the right place for information and always makes a point of complimenting my work...In fact, she's made me believe I can do it...Check out her blog, her work is fantastic..She's recently done some Altoid Tins through an exchange we were in...They are beautiful!!.

In beginning, my dear friend Nancy is the one who started me quilting...Little did she know I would end up being "crazy" but if it weren't for her, I wouldn't even be where I am at today..Nancy is a sane quilter but her work is incredible. She's a brilliant quilter, never even second guessing whether she can or can't, she just does...I am working on a Triple Irish Chain Quilt, which has over 1700 squares and she's right there, pushing me along...

There are more people in my life, that are instrumental in getting me to a place I love and as time goes on, I plan to mention all of them..But for today, on my quiet little Sunday here is the beginning..Check out their blogs, I guarantee you, it will be worth it...

Now, I'm off to do some "crazy quilting"..Tomorrow, I'll be working on my sane quilting but for this Sunday, I think I need some life with glitz, glamor and interesting work...

This is Nancy's block that I worked on for her in a new DYB Black and White r/r....I did several seams like feather, cretan, square feather, open chain, chain, straight stitches. I added the white flowers using beads for the center...I also did a daisy in the middle, again adding some black beads...It's an interesting swap forcing one to push further beyond how one things...I hope she likes it, I know I had fun..

This is a CQ Tin that I did for a Swap...The lace on top came from a "nappie", new but a great find at a Good Will...Then I tried adding buttons, silk ribbon flower and a dragon fly..Karrin is the recipent of this tin and she said she loves these colors as well as Victorian, so I tried to give it that feeling..Inside I put in a vintage hankie and some silk ribbon flowers...

This is a new RR I'm in doing a Black and White Theme...I've indicated I'll keep to those colors adding some silver to it...Perhaps I should have choosen a color to go with it but I couldn't make up my mind so kept it simple..I'm looking forward to seeing what will become of these 6 blocks..

This is the Blue Block of Donna's..My Camera didn't want to take the picture for some reason, maybe new batteries are needed...Below is what I did on this block..

"I worked in the lavender block a few chain stitch roses
with bead centers, adding daisy stitched leaves and some stems with beading..My
first seam is half circles with daisy stitch middles and beading..My second
seams was an open chain filled in with another color.."

Mother's Day Card

Gosh, I can't believe I haven't posted in 2 months but it's been that long ...Maybe today is my day to start blogging once more consistently...

I designed, cross stitched and made my mother a "Mother's Day Card"..Its one of my first designed pieces that I am willing to share . Still learning to design, but it feels good to know this is my piece and hopefully my mom will like the card..That will be the best reward of all...

I'm learning how to "Crazy Quilt"...I love hand embroidery and the fun this is bringing to me is fantastic....On this particular group I am on, they have a new stitch every week for each member to create something different..Well, I'm a newbie so just learning the stitch plus adding a bit of me into it has been a great experience..
Week 13 is the Herringbone Mirrored..
I used #5 DMC for the herringbone stitch, then I looped it using regular 6 ply floss adding a pearl between each stitch..I know it's not much but it's a start!!

Introducing "Noel"

Noel is our new little kitty...She was born November 5th and came to our home Christmas Day..She's an interesting color for sure but I'm kind of a person who loves unique and interesting things..She's a piece of art ...Noel is into everything and I mean everything, yet she's as sweet as she could be. She's eating wonderfully and using her kitty box perfectly - no accidents since arriving home thank goodness. We, meaning Lee and myself, are already in love with this baby and she is fitting in as though she's been here forever.

I made this tree for my mom who lives in a trailer during the winter season in Arizona...We always shared a tree at Christmas but alas, with miles apart, I thought making this tree would make us feel together during this season...The pattern is designed by a woman named "Miriam"..I think it's beautiful don't you? The doily is crochet for my SIL's new dressing room..I have a couple more to get completed by the next couple of days but they do go pretty fast.

Ok, off to bed and tomorrow I plan to finish up a little "Wolf" wall hanging for my brother..He loves wolves.. Hopefully I can get a couple of things worked out...

4th Ornament for the Christmas Ornament Exchange

Here is the 4th ornament of my Christmas Ornament Swap..As you can see they are all similar and yet a bit different. I think they came out pretty nice, hopefully the receiver's will. I've learned a couple new stitches and found out I need better needles for sewing on beads ..I have holes in my fingers (ok, so my grandmother told me to start wearing a thimble some 40 years ago) but I completed my project and feel pretty good. Thank you for all you has made comments on the other three..

What a surprise I had when I discovered I hadn't made any blog entries since October and yet I have made some accomplishments. Guess I better make sure to take pictures asap before I send them off from here on end.

I am in a Christmas Ornament Swap and for weeks I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do..Then I saw a wonderful tutorial on using CD's..They weren't Christmas ornaments but I knew immediately it was perfect..So, I have now recycled 8 cd's that were of no value, and along with learning some Crazy Quilting Stitches, have made my ornaments. They are far from perfect and with only the limited amount of supplies I had on hand, I think, all in all, they came out pretty good...

Now, I'm back to the sewing machine..

Two New Postcards

Still have more learning to do, but I think they came out pretty good....It was a challenge called "Swap Your Challenge" and it was alot of fun, with each month different fabrics to work with..Alas, this is the last month but it was a blast..Looking forward to new challenges and more art in fabric.

Well, atleast it will be quilted once I can find a spot to lay this out ..I purchased this waterfall scene at the Kalispell Quilt Show thinking I was going to put it into my bathroom...Alas, it's a bit too big so I'll find another perfect spot. I need to pick up some batting this week although I do have the back already cut and ready to do..So here's the top of my waterfall.

My First Bing Cherry Freezer Jam

Well, I know this isn't probably in the ways of being creative but I think it is.....Prior to going to my daughter's home, I asked my husband to bring me some Flathead County Bing Cherries so that I could make some freezer jam...I haven't heard of anyone really making jam out of cherries but ohhhhh, the Flathead County Cherries are to die for..So, he brought me a flat and while I was at my daughter's we made this incredible jam..I left her with half and I think she told me she's having to use it everyday as the kids are really loving it...My daughter feels it's a bit sour but my tastebuds say sweet with a bit of tartness..Anyway, here is a picture...

I can't believe it's been so long since I've added anything to my blog...I will posting a pic of a small miniature piece later this day but haven't done all that I wanted.

For Mother's Day this year, my sweet daughter purchased for me an adorable 4 mo old Cocker Spaniel. She is black with the exception of a small piece on her chest which is white with a bit of black spotting and a little tiny spot under her lip...She is feisty, energetic, stubborn and as sweet as they come...To be honest, she is my baby..

Unfortunately, last Friday evening at around 10:15 pm, Lindy was playing with our German Sheppard under the table and one scream came out of her...Within a few seconds she was bounding back for more play when I suddenly noticed her eye...Needless to say within minutes we had managed to call a wonderful country vet who took her right in...Her eye popped out of its socket. Most times the eye can be popped back in but Lindy's is severe enough that she actually may either loose her eye entirely, her eyesight or she can come out of it unmarked...We'll know in a few days what the results will be.

Anyway, for now, I'll give this spot to Lindy..I'll place two pictures of her, one prior to the accident and one the day after.

Lindy feels this world is one big playground..What a philosophy to have, maybe something we all ought to experience.

A Design I Created

I created a small ornament....I haven't sewn it as of yet, but I finished the stitching and thought I would post it on my blog for my encouragement to push myself..The design has a few flaws in it, but in time, I think I will improve..It was fun although it took me way to long to stitch it...Normally, stitching is an easy process for me, but with flaws, I had to keep taking out and fixing..Oh well, we learn as we practice...

Well it's Friday and a lovely Friday it is..Ok, so the skies are grey and the clouds are hovering about but it is Friday!!! For me any Friday is a lovely Friday..Tomorrow we are heading of to Bigfork to pick up supplies from Kalispell and then head on over to my MIL's to assist in some winterizing plus pick up Lee's snow tires. It will be a long day, but a good one...For me, anyday I get an opportunity to shop a bit is fun and the adding that I get to spend the whole day with my husband, well I couldn't ask for me...Ok, so maybe I could ask for gas prices to drop instead of climbing..Geez, I'm grateful we don't drive a SUV...

Ubove is two of my granddaughters taken Halloween night..My daughter and her family (her husband, 2 daughters and my grandson) came over for a visit and a short stay..The kids willingly gave up their Halloween to spend it with their Papa Lee and their Nannie so, they devised a plan to come to my door 20 times...It was a hoot, although, I finally ran out of candy I started filling their bag with coins, crackers, fruit, top ramien noodles and finally cat food..They were hysterical but I do think they had a great time...The pictures are a bit fuzzy, but I can atleast share..

Another Day

Another day and a few more steps towards our completion of our home. Don't let this statement fool you, we have about 5 more years of steps before our home will be done but it sounded good to say it this way .

Last night, we managed to get up our ceiling fan, although still needing the globes, it's a nice addition to my kitchen/dining room area.

Below, you will see two new pictures. The first one is of my tile countertops that my husband put in and, I must admit, I love. The second picture is of my dishes which are perfect for what I envisioned. Please notice that under the dishes there is a lovely doily that my friend Nancy had made for me two years ago and I've been saving, although anxiously awaiting to pull out of my little "hope" box and use in my home.

My blog sure looks unattended doesn't it? It's been quite interesting the last two months, challenging, busy and even some added excitment. First, I've moved into my new home. Sounds great doesn't it? For me, it is, however, I admit for anyone else you would think I'm crazy. You would see a house under construction with little space, alot of dirt with tools and materials everywhere. But, I have a full kitchen with cupboards, a stove, microwave, counter tops and space. I have a huge window out my sink with nothing but nature to view. I have a bathroom, a full bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink..Our bed is in a loft, very limited space but my husband managed to get our queen size bed plus TV for comfort. Next to my bed is a gorgous view.

This weekend, we'll putting our floor in the kitchen, dinning room and entry hall. After that, we move in the big computer a small love seat and with any luck a coffee table into the actual dinning room area. Againk I know it doesn't sound like much but I love it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I can move, breath and it's ours, all ours..Such a great feeling.

My granddaughter will be performing in a production called "The Toy Shop" in November. My son has been accepted into an accelerated Master's program for education and will graduate next August.

My dad is doing better with walking around after breaking his ankle and we received the great news that he is cancer free. However, my mom is facing pre-cancer surgery on her pancrease on the 26th of October. Lee's dad has been put into a mentally ill facility in WarmSprings and I'm afraid, he's no longer going to see his home unless my husband quits his job. That might be an option that we are considering but we'll have to wait and see as Lee still has an obligations to finish the construction of a beautiful credit union in Thompson Falls.

My writng, my art, my quilting, my cross stitching; even my reading has taken a back seat in my life. I miss it, I yearn for it and I'm trying to figure out what I can do by hand..I need it and quite frankly, it needs me.

Life certainly has challenges..I know they say what you survive, you become stronger, I must be very strong or atleast my husband is. I am doing better in alot of ways and I know how fortunate I am to have my husband, my family, my 5 perfect grandchildren and of course, my wonderful 3 children with their spouses and my friends, especially best friend.

Life isn't always what you want but you can make the choice to be happy. I know I'm happy even living under construction..I'm going to put up a couple of pictures of my kitchen from about a month ago, but I'll be taking pictures again very soon so be sure to stop by again and take a peek..

Well nix the pictures, blogger is having issues uploading pictures according to the message they just send me..So, I'll try again later..

My FIL has Alzheimer. It’s a dreaded disease inflicting itself upon individuals at random with no reason as to whom it selects. My FIL has gone out of his way to take care of himself physically, in fact, at 82 he’s still in top physical condition. He’s an artist, he’s intelligent and he’s active, yet he’s been plagued with the dreaded demeaning disease of Alzheimer.

Symptoms start out as simple as forgetfulness; summing it up as getting older. Yet as time goes on other symptoms include confusion, trouble with organizing and expressing one’s thoughts, misplacing things, personality behavior changes and unfortunately getting lost in their familiar surroundings.

Having to watch my father in law on occasion, giving my mother in law some much-needed rest, I’ve already had to experience all of the traits above with the exception of getting lost. He rarely goes out at all anymore simply because leaving his home causes extreme confusion..

With being a part of this, I can also testify how much this affects everyone around him, especially his wife and his sons. I know that when I’m there, it consumes nearly all my time just watching over him, making sure he eats and doesn’t wander away. Even being in bed at night, turning it off for a peaceful sleep is impossible for fear he’ll get up and who knows.

I understand we are just a few short years away from a medication that will help Alzheimer patients. In the meantime, my hat is off to those who work hard, bringing money to the research. One of the ways that I have found is through Ami Simms. She’s created the “Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative”.

Right now, a quilt exhibit is going around from August of 2006 to July 2009 in which 52 quilts are being displayed interpreting Alzheimer’s in some way. If you get an opportunity to check it out, please do so. We need to support this research in full force..

Also, Ami Simms, founder of the “Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative” has published a book based on these 52 quilts. The book is $20 and $18.00 of those dollars will go directly to the Alzheimer’s research. Check out her site and please consider purchasing one of these books. You won’t regret it. Your money will go to a great cause that will change all our lives.

I'm not sure which Blog to report to as I'm learning art in needlework. My goal at this time is to be able to do more of my deisgns for gifts, to learn more about beading, making purses and learning more stitches. I've been encouraged to check out a fantastic site which I can't seem to leave alone..Each day, I log on, I run right to this creative stitchers site and drool over the designs she's created..

I haven't finished alot this last couple of months..I have been working on Celtic Spring, more postcards and quilting..Right now, I can only say that I'm working on quilting block but it's so much fun.

Showing off my creations has now become a bit harder as my camera has finally bit the dust. Oh well, life goes on and we do what we can. I hope that by Saturday, I'll be able to share a Mother's Day Card that I made for my mother..It's a simple design but it's my design and I'm pretty proud of myself..
